Role Summary
The Validation Tools Engineer understands the needs of the project customers and translates them into specifications for the tester development team to implement, (e.g., electrical, mechanical, software etc.) and validates that the product meets the project team expectations. The validation tools engineer is also responsible to lead the global effort in developing validation tester development processes and methods to improve quality of work products and efficiency of the team and core tester designs that can be reused across projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for tester specification development on new application and core projects including reuse strategy, supplier management, and release approval.
- Develop knowledge of engineering trends.
- Develop innovative ideas in Mechanical engineering collaboratively.
- Responsible for development and maintenance of internal environmental test equipment and capabilities to support engineering development and certified environmental testing.
- Responsible for validation tester quote response for new project acquisition in alignment with global strategy.
- Responsible to be the interface between the validation engineer and the external tester development partner.
- Responsible to manage the inventory of available testers including developing upgrade plans for reuse on future programs.
- Develop project test schedule, timing plans, and tester usage to schedule all validation testers for various projects.
- Lead cross functional design reviews throughout the lifecycle of the development project.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering / Software Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent (Master’s preferred)
- 2+ years of relevant experience regarding the responsibility / activities (listed above) in serial development.

- Demonstrated technical knowledge of product development engineering practices.
- Knowledge of the application and delivery of advanced electronic systems into the automotive industry.
- Understanding of new technologies and cutting-edge methods in the industry.
- Previous experience in electrical design, verification, test equipment design or validation
- Knowledge of automotive industry specific test procedures (EMC, environmental and electrical)
- Knowledge of industry test hardware and software capability including Labview, CANoe, and National Instruments products
- Working knowledge of DMM, Oscilloscope, Video Scope etc.
- Hybrid, Hydraulic, ECU, or ADAS product/test experience desired.
- Experience with automotive requirements and design preferred.
